Carolina Combat League 5 Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu BJJ Super Fight Event Fayetteville, NC We had a busy week competing at   Carolina Combat League   in Charlotte NC. The event was amazing!   Element Grappling   had the opportunity to compete not only in a   white/blue belt   tournament, but also a Quintet team series and 3 Super Fight matches as well! Our athletes that competed in the tournament both did exceptionally well pulling of some amazing submissions! We had two teams compete in the Quintet matches and both of our teams won via multiple   Submissions ,   triangles, Kimuras, Heel hooks ! We had two coaches compete in 3 total Super Fight matches, we went 2–1 against some very skilled opponents! It was a long day as our  Head Coach  showed up from 0900 and stayed all the way to 2330! Inside the Mind of a Wrestler A Wrestlers approach to Jiu Jitsu Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu I see my opponent across from me. Their eyes are wide. Their structure strong and solid. There is something off though. A slight tremble , worry, or is it fear? My opponent pulls guard vigorously, but maintains distance. Rule one, always make the person think they have the upper hand. I let my opponent attach themselves to a limb. Rule two, create disarray. I snatch my leg away from my opponents grips, then give them my leg showing my opponent I allowed them to get what I gave them. Rule 3, shut every inch of motion down. I make my opponent suffer pressure , and attempt to drown them by depleting oxygen out of every muscle in their body. Rule 4, do not stop progression forward until the opponent taps from submission . I close every space. I lock down every limb to reach my wanted destination of control. My opponent is looking for any way out , he cannot actively recover, so I give him

Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Instructor Gregory Raffield competed at ADCC trials this weekend and had an awesome showing! Greg competed in the 88kg weight class with a bracket size of 256. Coach Greg Secured a Heel Hook in the first match in under 42 seconds! The inside Heel Hook has been a go to move for Greg. The second match Coach Greg took his opponents back off a while timed Kimura . After securing the body triangle Greg moved to finishing his opponent via a very tight strangle hold, his opponent had good defense and wrist control but ultimately Greg was able to sink in a very deep figure four grip and his opponent tapped quickly. Moving all the way from the 256 bracket to spot number 64, Greg's last opponent for the day was a tough Brown Belt. The match was a tough one with Greg taking a brutal head butt to the face almost sending his front teeth through his lip.
